Firefighters rescue trapped man
Firefighters have rescued a man who was trapped in a house bathroom by a blaze.

A fire control room staff member kept the man talking until crews arrived at the house in Sawley Crescent, Ribbleton, Preston, on Sunday.

Firefighters using breathing apparatus broke into the house to rescue the man. He needed hospital treatment after inhaling smoke.

Lancashire Police and the county's fire and rescue service were investigating the cause of the blaze.

A fire service spokesman said the advice given over the telephone was vital.

"It meant en route to the incident we could determine a plan of action to effect a quick rescue out of the bathroom window," he added.
