Pensioners and disabled people in one area of Lancashire will soon to able to travel by bus for free.
Blackburn with Darwen Council said the £700,000 travel scheme would benefit more than 30,000 residents.
Those eligible will get free travel during the week, after the morning rush hour, and all day on weekends and bank holidays from 1 April.
Councillor Andy Kay said it would cut the extra financial burden of public transport on the elderly and disabled.
He added: "This scheme aims to encourage older or disabled people to use public transport without the worry of how much it will cost.
"This will prove a huge boost to those who use public transport already and hopefully will further encourage people to leave their cars at home and use the bus instead."
