Police widen hunt for missing man
David Guilfoyle
David Guilfoyle was an international pool player
Police investigating the murder of a Lancashire businessman have moved the search for his body to West Yorkshire.

David Guilfoyle, 37, went missing in May 2005 after watching the European Champions League final at a pub in Whalley Road, Accrington.

Officers are now combing stretches of water just over the border following consultations with search advisors.

A 36-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Mr Guilfoyle, who was an international pool player.

Shane Fitzpatrick, of Lyndale Road, Hapton, Lancashire, is expected to go on trial in March.

Det Supt Steve Brunskill, leading the inquiry, said: "We have received no information in relation to the whereabouts of David Guilfoyle, but we are determined to explore any further areas based on the best professional advice available.

"Mr Guilfoyle's family are aware of these further searches and naturally like us they are hoping we are successful."
