Plans to demolish shopping centre
The planned restaurant and bar development for Rawtenstall
A restaurant and bar complex is planned for the former cinema
Plans are being made for a Lancashire shopping centre to be knocked down and replaced with new shops, flats and a multi-storey car park.

The proposal, for Rawtenstall, would mean that the Valley Centre would be demolished and a new retail area built.

The new scheme will create 70,000 sq ft of shops, some leisure facilities, a car park for 300 cars and 75 homes.

The work fits in with the preferred option from the Rawtenstall Master Plan to redesign the town centre.

The proposal follows an agreement was reached between the owners of the centre, CNC Group, and Rossendale Council, as some council land is involved in the work.

Work will not begin until formal planning permission is granted.
