Trams have been running in Blackpool for 120 years
The famous tram system at Blackpool will be back on track for bank holiday visitors after vital repairs.

The £1m work to replace points at Manchester Square - which started in January - has been completed.

The repairs were crucial as the area provides the main access to and from the tram depot.

Work was completed on the promenade tramway at Easter and track was replaced at Lytham Road as part of the same scheme.

The trams were running as usual from Friday, Blackpool Council said.

John Shaw, head of technical services, said: "We are very happy with how the tramway works has gone and that it has all been completed on schedule."

Blackpool's tram system was the country's first permanent electric street tramway. It opened on 29 September 1885 and ran from Cocker Street to South Shore.
