New search for missing pensioner
James Dowsett
Mr Dowsett suffers from dementia
Police and mountain rescue teams are to renew their search for a 65-year-old man who has been missing from his home in Lancashire for five months.

Dementia-sufferer James Dowsett was last seen leaving Crystal Hall in Whittingham Lane, Preston, on 18 June.

Police and the Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue teams were starting a five-day search in Whittingham on Thursday.

They are appealing for help from anyone who owns machinery that can clear large areas of undergrowth.

Multiple searches

Sgt Mark Farnworth, of Lancashire Police, said such equipment would help with the difficult terrain in the area.

Mr Dowsett is described as white, about 5ft 10ins and slim with collar-length grey wavy hair.

He was last seen wearing casual dark-coloured trousers and a long-sleeved pale orange shirt and glasses.

Despite numerous press appeals and searches in the area following his disappearance he has never been found.
