The story of a mother and her seven children - four of whom are autistic - is being brought to the small screen.

Actress Helena Bonham Carter is playing Maggi, a role inspired by Blackpool mother Jacqui Jackson, in the BBC Two drama, Magnificent 7.

The drama is currently being filmed in Bolton and Blackpool.

Ms Jackson's story was originally featured in BBC's My Family and Autism two years ago. She was employed as a consultant on the new drama.

Ms Jackson has three daughters and four sons. All four of her boys suffer a form of autism.

The drama looks at a year in the life of the family.

Ms Bonham Carter said: "I found the script funny, touching and humane.

"Hopefully, this film will help people to understand what it is like to be autistic and, moreover, celebrate rather than marginalise what it is to be 'different'."
