Moorland search for care home man
James Dowsett
Mr Dowsett may be in a confused state
Police in Lancashire are searching moorland in the hunt for a pensioner who was reported missing from a care home at the weekend.

James Dowsett, 65, from Crystal Hall on Whittingham Lane, Preston, suffers from dementia and police say he could be in danger without his medication.

Police dogs and the Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue team searched the Whittingham and Goosnargh areas.

He is white, about 5ft 10in and slim with collar-length grey wavy hair.

Confused state

He was last seen wearing casual dark-coloured trousers and a long-sleeved pale orange shirt and glasses.

Detectives say Mr Dowsett may be in a confused state.

"Mr Dowsett originates from Lancaster and is well known in the area around Whittingham and Goosnargh," police said.

"We are very keen to find out if anyone has seen Mr Dowsett on Saturday night and given him a lift somewhere."

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen the pensioner to contact them.
