Three men killed as car hits tree
Three people have been killed when their car left the road and hit a tree in Salmesbury, near Preston.

Police named the three men from Blackburn as Shaqil Mohammed Ahmed, 27, of Tenby Close, Markhdoom Ali, 24, and Shamsuddin Desai, 18, of Whitewell.

A fourth man in the car, Urphan Patel, 23, of Langdale Court in Blackburn, is critically ill in intensive care in the Royal Preston Hospital.

Their Honda Legend crashed on the A59 near its junction with the M6.

The road was closed for four hours after the crash on Wednesday.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the accident to contact them.

They want to hear from a woman in a Land Rover who stopped at the scene before driving off.
