Dogfight over 'low-flying jet'
Tornado
The low flying plane is said to have made the dog jump out of a window
A woman who claims a low-flying military jet caused her pet dog to leap out of an open window and injure himself is suing the Ministry of Defence.

Valerie Wilshaw, of Bispham, Lancashire, says the Tornado caused her terrified chow chow Shine to fall 16ft, breaking his leg in six places.

The 54-year-old is blaming the MoD for the incident and has demanded it pay her vets bill - which cost an estimated £1,500.

She said the jet had been on its way to the Southport Air show in September.

"Living close to Blackpool Airport, we are used to planes flying over but this was so ear-piercingly loud people ducked in the street," she said.

'They are to blame'

"It sounded more like an earthquake and everything shook as it went over.

"Then one of my neighbours came running in to tell me Shine had leapt out of the window in fright and was in a really bad way.

"I think the Ministry of Defence should pay the bill because they are to blame for his injuries."

An MoD spokeswoman said: "We are dealing with a claim made by Mrs Wilshaw.

"We are trying to check the relevant facts before we make a decision regarding any compensation."
