Man, 79, charged with murdering wife in Gillingham

A 79-year-old man has been remanded in custody after being charged with the murder of his wife in Kent.

Alan Thomas, of Deanwood Drive, Gillingham, is accused of killing his wife Winifred, 77, whose body was found at a property in Deanwood Drive.

Police were called to the address at 1030 BST on Sunday.

Mr Thomas, who was charged on Monday, appeared before Medway magistrates on Tuesday. He is due to appear at Maidstone Crown Court later this week.
