Fuel sludge tanker stolen from Kent depot

Police are concerned thieves will dump the contents of the tanker

A chemical tanker containing fuel sludge and residue has been stolen from a depot in Kent.

The green and white tanker was taken overnight from an industrial unit at London Road, West Kingsdown, near Sevenoaks.

The vehicle is owned by 1st Advance Tanks Pipeworks which cleans petrol and diesel tanks at filling stations and other businesses.

The tank contains around 10,000 litres of waste material, police said.

Det Ch Insp Jon Clayden of Kent Police said: "It's important that the people who've taken it realise that the tanker contains nothing more than waste material.

"My concern is that the waste is going to be dumped when it's realised that it's of no value. To say that this would be very damaging to the environment is an understatement."
