Appeal over knifepoint robberies

A series of robberies - two involving knives - have taken place in one afternoon in a Kent town.

Police have not linked the three incidents which happened in Ashford on Thursday between 1515 and 1820 GMT.

Five youths targeted by two black men in the Stour centre car park were made to hand over their property after being threatened with a knife.

A 19-year-old man was also robbed at knifepoint by two white men on a cycle path near Bowen's Field, hours later.

The men brandished what was thought to be a knife or penknife and demanded his wallet.

And a 22-year-old man was threatened with a chisel-type item in Jemmett Road and was made to hand over his phone before he fell to the ground and was kicked. The offender in that incident left with the victim's BMX bike.

Kent Police appealed for witnesses to all three incidents and said they had made one arrest.
