Baby seal rescued from mud flats

A baby common seal has been rescued from mudflats at Faversham in Kent.

The three-week-old seal had been spotted in the area over the last couple of weeks but got stuck on the mud at Oare Creek on Friday evening.

Crews from the British Divers Marine Rescue team and Kent Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene at first light on Saturday to rescue it.

The seal has been taken to the RSPCA's Mallydams Wood wildlife centre in East Sussex where it will be cared for.
