Man charged over £5.4m drug find

A lorry driver from north Wales has been charged with attempting to smuggle £5.4m worth of drugs into the UK through a Kent port.

Officers from the UK Border Agency (UKBA) seized the Class A drugs at Dover's Eastern Docks on Thursday.

David Lewis, 47, of Buckley, Flintshire, appeared before Folkestone magistrates later on Friday.

Packages containing 120kg (265lb) of heroin and 6kg (13lb) of amphetamine sulphate were found in the lorry.
