Tribute paid to knife death man

A 21-year-old man who died from a single stab wound during an incident at a flat has been identified by Kent Police.

Andrew Wilby, of St Stephen's Road, Canterbury. was stabbed in the back at a property in Tennyson Avenue in the town in the early hours of 21 June.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate where he died.

A woman arrested over his death is currently on police bail.

Mr Wilby's parents Anne and Robert Wilby said he was known for his zest for life.

He celebrated his 21st birthday a week before his death and had been hoping to join the Army, according to his parents.

'Life cut short'

In a statement released through Kent Police, they said: "Andrew was deeply loved by all his family.

"He had a generosity of spirit, compassion and concern for all those close to him. He was known for his courage and zest for life.

"The family is shocked that his life has been tragically cut short by this brutal attack.

"All his family and friends are heartbroken - they have received many accolades from friends who admired him and turned to him for support and advice."

A woman, aged 22, arrested on suspicion of the murder of Mr Wilby is currently on police bail until 18 August pending further investigations.
