Man charged over critical injury

A man has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent over an assault in Kent which left a 41-year-old man critically ill.

James Brown, 37, of Portland Road, Gillingham, was remanded in custody by Medway magistrates until a hearing on a date to be set.

Four other men arrested after the incident in Sturdee Avenue, Gillingham, on Sunday were released without charge.

A woman who was also arrested has been bailed until 17 April.

The 41-year-old man remains in a London hospital with head injuries.
