Revellers urged to be responsible

Revellers are being urged to have fun but to stay safe while socialising in the run-up to New Year as part of Kent Police's Safer Winter campaign.

Posters and leaflets were put up in licensed premises, garages, taxi-ranks and supermarkets earlier this month.

Ch Insp Lee Russell said people were reminded to be responsible, stay safe and to think about the consequences.

"If people commit crime or act anti-socially they could be arrested for something that is easily avoidable."

'Drinks not drunks'

Images of young men and women feature on the posters which ask: "How does your behaviour reflect you?"

Other posters displayed feature the slogan: "We serve drinks not drunks."

Ch Insp Russell added: "We want people to drink responsibly and know their limits. Our message is very simple - take care of yourself and friends and don't put yourselves at risk."

The Safer Winter campaign also advises people to organise transport home before they go out so they are not left wondering how they are going to get back at the end of the night.
