Cross stolen from church entrance

Thieves have stolen a large bronze cross from the entrance gate of a Kent church, police have said.

The 3ft-high (0.9m) item was reported missing from the lychgate outside St Martin's Church in Herne Street, Herne Bay, on Monday.

Officers said the cross was last seen on Sunday and they think it was taken for its scrap metal value.

Kent Police have asked anyone with information about the missing item to contact them.
