The body of James Taylor was discovered on Tuesday morning

A mother arrested after the body of her son was discovered at a house in Kent remains in hospital, but is now in a stable condition, police have said.

James Taylor, 11, was found when officers were called to Knight's Croft, New Ash Green, on Tuesday morning.

His father, who is not a UK resident, has been told of his death.

A post-mortem examination has taken place but police said until the results of further examinations were known the cause of death could not be determined.

Officers have not yet spoken to the woman.

An inquest into James' death is due to be opened.

Academic promise

Kent Police have been treating his death as "suspicious" and said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

Officers have been at the scene, where the property has been cordoned off since the discovery of James' body at 0530 GMT.

House-to house inquiries have also been carried out.

James was a year seven pupil at Wilmington Grammar School for Boys.

Headteacher Fiona Cottam said he was a new pupil to the school but had settled in well and was showing great academic promise.
