Two attack witnesses come forward

Two men whom police wanted to speak to in connection with attacks on three women in Kent have come forward.

Officers said the men were being treated as potential witnesses, and were not suspects.

CCTV images of them had been released by police investigating attacks on Greatstone seafront, in New Romney, on Friday night into Saturday morning.

One woman was sexually assaulted and two others were physically attacked within a six-hour period.

House-to-house inquiries

The first two women were attacked in Grand Parade after 2030 GMT on Friday and the third sexually assaulted in The Parade at 0230 GMT on Saturday.

A mobile police station has been set up nearby to reassure people and house-to-house inquiries have taken place.

Police said that had resulted in a number of new leads which were being followed up by the investigation team.

Officers have urged people not to walk alone, and to ensure they let others know of their whereabouts, including details of when they are likely to arrive at a particular place.

Kent Police has also reiterated its appeal for witnesses to come forward.
