Family members said Mr King was in bed with his wife when he was shot

Detectives investigating the murder of a man who was shot dead in his bed have urged witnesses to contact them.

The 51-year-old victim of the shooting at Medina Road, Ditton, near Aylesford, on Friday has been formally identified as Danny King, also known as Shep.

A mobile police station is on The Green, off Medina Road to encourage residents to speak to officers.

Kent Police want to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious on Thursday evening or the early hours of Friday.

Det Ch Ins Jon Bumpus, from Kent Police, said: "Mr King's family are trying to come to terms with the loss of a loving husband and father and echo our appeal for witnesses to come forward.

"You may not think the information will be of any significance but please contact officers with the details so that we can to establish why someone would commit such a horrific crime and bring the offender (or offenders) to justice."

Family members said it was believed Mr King was in bed with his wife when he was shot at about 0300 BST.

Two children were also in the house.
