Jobs lost in furniture companies

The company blamed problems in the property industry for its decline

More than 200 workers have lost their jobs at a furniture company which has been forced into administration.

The closure affects Regis Furniture in Sheerness in Kent and its parent company JF Nott in Whitham, Essex, which was formed in 1924.

About 100 staff from Regis Furniture were given one hours' notice that they were to be laid off. At JF Nott 125 jobs were lost.

Both companies designed bespoke furniture for offices and homes.

The closure has been blamed on cash flow problems because of a tightening in the property and construction industry.

Kroll, an international risk consultants, is handling the liquidation of both companies.
