£1m potholes blitz beats target

Pothole
More than 8,000 potholes were reported and 11,314 were filled

More than 11,000 potholes were repaired across Kent in a month-long blitz - at least 1,000 more than predicted.

The total number repaired in April was 11,314. Out of those, 8,394 were reported by inspectors and residents.

The remaining potholes were unreported but were found and mended by highways crews using their own initiative, Councillor Keith Ferrin said.

He said the £1m blitz was because roads were pounded during last year's wet summer and then poor winter weather.

Five thousand potholes were filled in the first two weeks of the operation.
