Driver appeal after armed robbery

Police investigating a robbery at a Kent supermarket want a motorist who may hold vital clues to come forward.

The robber stole a cash box after he threatened a security guard with a gun at Sainsbury's on Park Farm Industrial Estate in Folkestone on Thursday.

Officers want a women who was driving a small blue car with a girl in the front passenger seat to come forward.

They believe the driver may have nearly hit the robber as he ran across the car park before getting into a waiting car.

Orange dye

Members of the public chased the robber who got into a silver Audi A4 which drove off at speed.

It was later found abandoned in Belinda Court in Folkestone with the cash box discarded inside with the security dye pack activated.

Police said the red or orange dye would have contaminated the skin and clothes of anyone handling it and although some of the money was abandoned, the cash that was stolen was likely to be stained.

The robber is described as white, in his 20s and was wearing a grey hooded top and dark glasses.

No-one was injured during the robbery.
