Seven held after bookmaker's raid

Four men and three youths from London are being questioned by police after a robbery at a bookmaker's in Kent.

The men were arrested after a chase by police and dog handlers starting in Collards Close, Ramsgate, following a robbery at Coral's in Newington Road.

Nearly 500 was taken from the till after staff and customers were told to lie on the ground by robbers.

Police are investigating possible links with three youths, aged 15, 16 and 17, arrested in Albany Drive, Herne Bay.

The youths were held following the robbery on Thursday morning on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent and having no insurance.

They are currently in custody at Canterbury Police Station.

The four men arrested in Ramsgate, two aged 20 and two aged 18, are being questioned at Margate Police Station on suspicion of robbery.

A police spokeswoman said property and money had been recovered. No-one was injured in the raid.
