Stables block evacuated in blaze

A stable block had to be evacuated after the building in Herne Bay, Kent caught fire in the early hours.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said all the animals in the single-storey block at The Paddocks, Broomfield were led to safety before the fire took hold.

Three fire appliances were sent to the scene of the incident, which started just before 0600 BST.

The blaze was brought under control within a hour and firefighters were able to leave soon afterwards.
