Fire in seaside amusement arcade

Up to 60 firefighters have tackled a blaze at an amusement arcade in a seaside town in east Kent.

The fire broke out on the ground floor of Tivoli Entertainment in Marine Terrace, Margate, a spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said.

He said firefighters wearing breathing apparatus searched the four-storey building for anyone who could be trapped inside, but nobody was hurt.

The cause of the blaze is being investigated, he added.

Emergency teams in 10 pumps were called to the site at about 1730 GMT.

The fire was extinguished at 1845 GMT.

In April 2003, a neighbouring amusement arcade on Margate seafront, Mr G's, burnt down following a massive blaze.
