Gunman 'waited at victim's home'
David O'Leary
David O'Leary was shot after arriving home with his girlfriend
A man who died from gun shot wounds on his driveway in Kent may have been killed by someone who was lying in wait for him, Kent Police have said.

Businessman David O'Leary, 31, was found with fatal injuries outside his home in Valley Road, Lydden, Margate, in the early hours of Saturday.

Officers said he was shot after returning home from a night out and that it was not a random killing.

Kent Police said they did not believe there was any danger to the public.

They have said Mr O'Leary, who was known to them, was shot after arriving home with his girlfriend at about 0245 GMT.

"It's our view that someone was waiting for him," Supt Chris Hogben said.

Officers carried out house-to-house inquiries over the weekend and neighbourhood teams are currently patrolling the surrounding area.

Scenes of crime officers have also been at the house.

Police would like to hear from anyone with information about the incident, including anyone who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in the Valley Road area during the evening of Friday or the early hours of Saturday.
