A 31-year-old man suffered a fractured eye socket and severe head and facial injuries in an unprovoked assault and robbery at a boat yard in Kent.
The attack, which was captured on CCTV, happened after the three offenders gained access to a private property on the site in Allington, near Maidstone.
The property owner asked them to leave, but he was punched to the ground and continually kicked in the head.
Police have described Saturday night's attack as "callous and senseless".
Before making their escape, two of the men searched the unconscious victim and stole his wallet and mobile phone.
Police have released CCTV footage of the incident in an attempt to catch the offenders.
'Sick to the stomach'
One of the men caught on camera, who did not play a part in the robbery, was seen trying to calm down the offender kicking the victim.
Det Insp Kris Hill, who is leading the investigation, said watching the attack had left him "sick to the stomach".
"I've been in the police 15 years and this is by far the worst piece of CCTV that I've seen," he said.
The attackers are described as being in their early 20s and of medium build.
The man who carried out the attack is described as being of mixed race and was wearing blue jeans, a brown coat and a dark coloured woollen hat.
Another of the offenders was wearing a white hooded long-sleeved top and dark coloured jeans.
The third was wearing blue jeans and a black top.
