Driver runs from serious accident
Hartley accident
The car was badly damaged in the accident in Hartley
A woman aged 91 is seriously injured in hospital after an accident in which a lorry driver ran from the scene.

The woman was a passenger in a car which collided with the lorry in Ash Road, Hartley, on Thursday. The female car driver suffered minor injuries.

Both were taken to Darent Valley Hospital where the elderly woman's condition was described as stable.

"The damage to the car is considerable and it is fortunate the injuries were not more serious," said Sgt Kurt Bowen.

The women were initially trapped in the Proton Satria car but the driver was able to get out unaided.

The passenger had to be cut free.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident, or anyone who has other information, to help them trace the driver of the white Ford Transit drop-side lorry.
