Man gets life for stabbing murder
Daniel Mazza
Daniel Mazza stabbed David Gavin to death following an argument
A 24-year-old man has been jailed for life for the stabbing to death of another man after a "trivial" argument.

Judge Andrew Patience told Daniel Mazza, of Clifton Gardens, Margate, Kent, he would serve at least 15 years.

Mazza was found guilty at Maidstone Crown Court on 12 October of murdering David Gavin, 26, of Athelstan Road.

"At last now justice has been done and Mazza will have to serve his time," said Mr Gavin's father, also named David, who was in court for sentencing.

His son was found dead at his flat on 14 March.

Det Insp Dave Withers said after the hearing that Mazza had 64 previous convictions.

"In the past he has shown total disregard for people's property, and now, with a conviction for murder, he has shown a complete disregard for other people's lives," he said.

"He used extreme violence and murdered David after a trivial argument.

"Today's sentencing will hopefully bring some closure to the family."
