Red squirrel babies are known as kittens
Three red squirrel babies have been born in the second successful brood at a Kent wildlife park in the space of two months.

The new kittens, whose gender is not yet known, can be seen at the Wildwood Discovery Park, near Canterbury.

Once they are grown up, the squirrels will join an expanding population at a conservation site in Anglesey, Wales.

The project is working to prevent the extinction of the species in the British Isles.

Peter Smith, chief executive of the Wildwood Trust, said: "If we can help restore areas of woodland to a native state and make a concerted effort, we might just be able to tip the balance back in the red squirrel's favour."

The animals can live up to six years of age.
