Two children die in M25 accidents

Two children have been killed in separate accidents on the M25 either side of the Dartford Crossing.

An 11-year-old boy from Surrey died after his father's motorcycle collided with several vehicles on the clockwise approach to the QEII Bridge, in Essex.

And a toddler died in a second crash, involving a limousine and a car between junctions 4 and 3 in Kent.

A man and a woman, who were also in the car, have been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The accident in Essex happened at about 1100 BST on Saturday.

Driver quizzed

Police said the 42-year-old motorbike rider, from Surrey, appeared to have lost control of his vehicle before colliding with several cars and a lorry.

His son was taken to Darent Valley Hospital in Kent where he later died from serious head injuries. Essex Police said the motorcyclist himself was uninjured.

The Kent crash happened at about 1530 BST near the junction three slip road.

The toddler was pronounced dead at Darent Valley Hospital.

The female driver of the car was also taken to Darent Valley while a male passenger was airlifted to a hospital in Whitechapel, east London.

A man who was driving the stretch limousine was thought to be uninjured and is being questioned by police.

Motorists were advised to avoid the two areas of the M25.
