An inquest into the death of Terry Edmonds whose body was found in a suitcase in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, has been opened and adjourned.
The hearing took place at Gravesend County Court on Monday.
A post-mortem examination of the 17-year-old's body, found in the town in April, revealed she had been sexually assaulted and strangled.
Detectives have arrested and released three men. The inquest will reopen when the investigation has concluded.
Terry had been living at the Christian Alliance Housing Association's Homeless Hostel in Tunbridge Wells since January.
Her body was found near the entrance to Morrisons supermarket car park in Vale Avenue.
