Cargo ship rescued by high tide
A 40,000-tonne cargo ship which ran aground during low tide 10 miles off the coast of Dover has been refloated.

The Panamanian-registered vessel was heading for Brazil and not carrying cargo when it got stuck at Varne Bank.

An inspection took place to make sure the Lowlands Maine was not taking on board any water. The vessel then refloated during high tide.

Dover Coastguard said the ship was now heading to Portland in Dorset to be inspected by divers.

The crew of 21 were unharmed.
