Michael Forsdike completed the 70-mile trip in three days
A man from Kent has reached the end of a three-day 70-mile unicycle trip in aid of a local charity.

Michael Forsdike, 19, from Hythe, started the 70-mile trip from his home town on Saturday and arrived in Rottingdean, near Brighton, on Monday.

He battled strong winds to complete the arduous 19-hour journey, reaching his destination at 1240 BST.

Mr Forsdike said: "The wind was horrendous - it made me doubt I'd finish the trip."

The unicyclist avoided travelling on roads and planned his trip along footpaths and pavements.

Despite spending three days on the saddle, he said so far he is not feeling sore.

How he kept going I don't know - he's incredibly determined

"It was great having kids running along with me spurring me on, but I'll probably pay for it tomorrow," he added.

His mother, Phillippa Forsdike, followed her son for most of his journey on her bicycle.

She said there were many times over the three days when her heart was in her mouth.

"I worry and get nervous when large vehicles go past on the road because they make him wobble and he falls sideways.

"I wasn't sure whether he could do it.

"How he kept going I don't know - he's incredibly determined."

Mr Forsdike has already raised £1,500 for the Demelza House hospice and hopes to hit £2,000 when he collects all the sponsorship money.
