A murder investigation is under way after a man was stabbed to death in Chatham, Kent, on Thursday morning.
The 31-year-old, who was living in the Medway area, was pronounced dead at the Medway Maritime Hospital.
Kent Police said a patrol car spotted the man in the early hours as he was being treated by ambulance paramedics in Magpie Hall Road.
A post-mortem examination revealed he died as a result of being stabbed with a knife.
Flowers at scene
Road and school closures have been in place although the nearby All Saints Primary School will reopen on Friday.
The police cordon has been put up between Listmas Road and the Luton Arches area.
Local residents said violent crime was becoming common in the area.
They were leaving flowers at the scene and police were knocking on residents' doors in an attempt to gather information.
Det Ch Insp Andy Rabey said: "Extra police officers will be patrolling in the area of this incident and I would like to encourage anyone with any information to speak to them about what happened."
