The body of a man has been found lying on a main road in Kent next to another man who was seriously injured.
They were discovered on the London-bound carriageway of the A20 at Sellindge on Sunday morning.
It is not known how long the men had been lying there. The injured man has been taken to hospital in Ashford.
Police are looking into how the men came to be lying in the road. A spokeswoman said officers were waiting to talk to the injured man.
'Silver car'
A police spokeswoman said the man was being treated for broken bones and described his condition as "serious but stable".
She added that the circumstances surrounding the incident would not be known until they talked to the injured man.
The other man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both men had not yet been identified.
Police are appealing for the driver of a silver or gold saloon car who may have witnessed the incident or come across the men shortly afterwards to come forward.
Anyone with information should contact police.
