Five Kent police officers and a crime scene investigator have received RSPCA awards after helping to catch a badger baiting gang last year.
Police officers called the RSPCA out to reports of badger baiting
The commendations followed an incident where animal welfare officers were called by police to reports of four men digging at a badger sett in Swanley.
They were fined in court over offences of badger baiting and causing suffering to their dogs.
The RSPCA said police had helped put a stop to their "barbaric activity".
Steve Dockery, the animal charity's chief inspector for the West Kent area, said: "Without their help in preserving the scene and assisting with interviews, it could have been very difficult to bring these men to justice."
