Pensioners taught art of graffiti

Elderly residents in Ringlestone have the chance to create a mural

Grandparents got to grips with graffiti while teenagers tried their hands at bingo and knitting, during a generation swap workshop in Kent.

It is part of a pilot project run by Maidstone Youth Forum in an attempt to address problems with youths and breakdown generational stereotypes.

Organiser Verity Quirk said: "I want to break down the barriers of what they perceive each other to be like."

Residents of Ringlestone were invited to attend the event on Saturday.

Graffiti artist Graham Upton helped elderly residents create a large mural.

While younger members of the community were being taught how to knit before taking part in a game of bingo.
