Kent has become the home for the British Open Sombo Championships
Kent is hosting the British Open Championships for a form of wrestling that originated in Russia.

Sombo sees two opponents - who wear the regulation jacket, shorts and boots - wrestling on a mat with the winner decided by points or a submission.

Wrestlers from the UK, France and USA, and as far afield as Cameroon, Nepal and Iran, are competing in the British Open in Sittingbourne on Saturday.

There are male and female competitions with different age and weight groups.

Last year's championships were the first to have a real international flavour and there were winners from Spain and Uzbekistan, as well as England and Scotland.
