Roads into the Port of Dover need to be improved to avoid crashes, congestion and air pollution, the roads minister has been told.

Business leaders, the harbour board, the local MP and councillors have been mounting a long-running campaign to see the A2 turned into a dual carriageway.
They told David Jamieson at a meeting on Thursday that traffic needs to be taken off the A20 onto an improved A2.
Up to two million trucks use the port every year.
Dover Harbour Board has said the number of people and vehicles through the port will double by 2035.
Business leaders think the town will struggle to cope without improved transport infrastructure.
Councillor Nigel Collor, who has responsibilities for transport, said the changes were needed "very desperately".
He said: "It's common practice nearly every weekday evening now for a queue of traffic to be waiting to go into the Eastern Docks in Dover for up to four hours on the A20.
"We need to spread this a lot more evenly onto the A2, which needs dualling and it needs signs on the M25 to say it's a route into Dover."
Mr Collor said consultants asked to look into the air quality in the area said the nitrogen dioxide levels had shown the number of vehicles using the A20 needed to be cut by 20% by 2010 to meet guidelines.
He said: "There are traffic signals just outside Dover - it's the only place you'll find traffic signals on a trunk road between Scotland and Italy.
"You hear of other major road schemes being constructed and I doubt whether any of those carry up to 8,000 trucks a day."
He said Mr Jamieson had promised to look into the issues and another meeting had been suggested.
