Misspelling upsets railway users
Misspelt sign at Folkestone West railway station
A new sign is being made to replace the misspelt one
South Eastern Trains has apologised to rail travellers after spelling the name of a Kent town wrongly on a sign on the station platform.

New signs put up at Folkestone West are missing the middle "e".

"It's extremely embarrassing for us," said Sarah Boundy of South Eastern Trains. "We have ordered new signs which will be put up in the next week."

Philip Carter, of the action group Go Folkestone, said: "Low marks to them. They really should do better."

Covering up

He added: "We have lots of issues with South Eastern Trains.

"The new trains are very nice and things appear to be getting better, but we would like a little more effort from them."

Ms Boundy said the company decided against covering up the misspelt signs.

"It is more important that passengers can look out of the train window and see what station they are at," she said.
