Nursing home evacuated after fire
Firefighters rescue an elderly resident
Firefighters led all 48 residents to safety at a nearby church hall
A nursing home with more than 40 elderly residents has been evacuated after a fire on Friday morning.

Kent Fire and Rescue said there were originally reports people were trapped inside the building in Tunbridge Wells, but everyone was now accounted for.

The fire is thought to have started in the roof space of the nursing home in St James' Road.

The elderly residents led to safety from the building have all been taken to a nearby church hall.

Station commander Andrew Strand said: "We had six pumps here to contain the fire and to assist in the evacuation of the residents.

"They may be able to move back into a part of the building later this afternoon."

The blaze started at about 1000 BST and fire engines were still at the scene at 1330 BST.
