Dustman dies after crush accident

A dustman has died in hospital after being crushed between two dustcarts.

Steve Bennett, 45, of Hillfield Road, Dunton Green, Sevenoaks, had been in a critical condition after the accident in New Ash Green, Kent, on 9 June.

Sevenoaks District Council said on Tuesday that he died on 12 June at Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford.

A statement from the council said their thoughts were with the man's family, friends and colleagues and added that investigations were continuing.

Kent Police and the Health and Safety Executive were said to be looking into the incident.

A police spokeswoman said there was an ongoing inquiry by the Crash Investigation Unit.

The victim was behind one vehicle when another one reversed, trapping him between the two.
