Cerebral palsy girl wins damages
A 10-year-old girl who suffered severe brain damage after mistakes were made during her birth has been awarded £3.4m in damages.

Charlee Lisney, from Orpington, was born at the All Saints Hospital in Chatham, Kent, in July 1994 and now has cerebral palsy.

The Medway NHS Trust, which managed the hospital, has issued a full apology.

The settlement, which was made at the High Court in London, will be used to build a new home for Charlee's family.

Charlee is confined to a wheelchair and needs round the clock care by her parents, who have given up work to look after her.

The High Court heard how she was due to have been delivered by caesarean section before midday on 9 July 1994, but was born at 1000 BST the following day.
