Only 35 per cent of domestic violence incidents are reported
A crackdown on domestic violence in Thanet - which has the highest number of incidents in Kent - has led to a new public awareness campaign.

In March, Solicitor General Harriet Harman and Judge Marilyn Mornington met front-line staff at a conference held by Thanet Domestic Violence Forum.

Now a booklet has been produced, giving advice on where victims can find help.

Key contact numbers on 10,000 business cards and parking tickets are also being issued throughout November.

Kent Police say only 35% of domestic violence incidents are reported and in Thanet, 150 incidents are reported each month,

Officers say that 43% of victims of domestic violence are repeat victims.

A review seminar was being held by the domestic violence forum on Wednesday.
