Police are hunting for a 14-year-old girl who is believed to have disappeared with a 46-year-old man.
Stacey Champ has been missing from her home in Gillingham, Kent, since Thursday morning.
Police fear she may have gone abroad with David Milner, a friend of her family.
More than £1,000 has been withdrawn from Mr Milner's bank account in the last few days.
Stacey's mother, Angela Champ, broke down in tears as she appealed for the teenager to return at a press conference on Saturday.
She said: "I just want you to come home. You are not in any trouble. I love and I miss you.
"Please just come back. Just let me know that you are okay and just come home."
She told Stacey her cat Max was missing her greatly.
Inspector Richard Watson, of Kent Police, appealed to Stacey to make contact.
Officers believe the pair may try to leave the country, although it is thought Stacey does not hold a passport.
Money withdrawn
Insp Watson said to Stacey: "We need to make sure that you are okay.
"If you want to ring mum, ring the local police station or ring the police station here, we just want to know you are okay."
He said police forces across the UK had been alerted to Stacey's disappearance but the hunt had not yet moved abroad.
Insp Watson said police were "concerned" for Stacey's welfare, but they did not believe her to be in any danger.

The schoolgirl is 5 ft 3 in tall and has long, light brown hair with blonde streaks.
She was wearing blue jeans, white Airtech trainers and a blue baseball cap but has taken other clothes with her, police said.
The pair are believed first to have met through Stacey's mother between 18 months and two years ago.
Mr Milner, who is 5 ft 8 in, slim and has short dark hair with a "five o' clock shadow", was originally a colleague of Mrs Champ.
He wears black-rimmed metal glasses and has a Manchester accent.
He was last seen on Thursday and is believed to be driving a white Ford Escort van, registration number W639 RGE, with the name Beech Construction on the side.
Police are also trying to trace a blue Proton - registration G60 SKE - and a five-door red Ford Escort Sapphire, registration M69 WJN.
Police said Stacey had appeared to have taken a mobile phone with her but it
was switched off.
