Man killed in road crash

Police have appealed for witnesses to an accident in which a man died.

The man was killed when his car left the road and overturned on to a grass verge in London Road, Swanley.

A Kent Police spokesman said the man, who was from Swanley, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the crash at 2315 BST on Friday is urged to contact Kent Police.

Church reaches fundraising total

Urgent repairs to an ancient church in Cliffe are to go ahead after the amount of money needed was found.

Supporters of St Helen's Church have been given the final 20,000 needed to allow renovation of the Norman structure to start.

In the past 12 months 160,000 has been raised for essential work to the church which is home to several rare paintings.

Work will now begin in the spring.

Stranded teenagers rescued

Two teenagers had to be rescued from a beach after becoming trapped by the tide.

The boys were stranded at Cliftonville on Friday night at about 1900 BST.

They were rescued by Margate's inshore lifeboat and a coastguard team.

One of the boys is believed to have suffered a broken ankle.

Animal protest at docks

About 100 protesters are expected in Dover on Saturday to mark World Animal Day.

The demonstration has been organised by Compassion in World Farming.

It is being held at the Eastern Docks and is aimed at drawing attention to what the protesters believed is the unnecessary transportation of animals.
